Daredevil 2

Number 1 is the Cancelled Marvel Projects Daredevil 2.

In 2003, Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) made his first appearance on the big screen. Mark Steven Johnson directs Ben Affleck as the blind vigilante.

20th Century Fox cancelled the sequel despite grossing $ 179million (on a $ 78 million budget). It’s mainly due to the terrible reviews.

Both professional critics as well as moviegoers have expressed concern about the film. Instead, the studio chooses to create an Elektra-centric spinoff.

Jennifer Garner’s picture gets worse reviews than Daredevil. This burys the franchise’s future potential.

Daredevil has since seen the return of both characters on Netflix. Another universe has been pulled. Elektra and Daredevil aren’t having the best luck.

Hulk 2

Hulk 2 is at number 2 on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Eric Bana was the Hulk, before he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mark Ruffalo and Edward Norton.

In fact, Universal Pictures hired the talented Ang Lee to direct a movie focusing on the Hulk, in 2003, many years after Lou Ferrigno’s cult series.

The Hulk, which grossed over $ 245 millions on a budget of $ 137 million, was a huge box office hit at that time. Universal made a sequel to the Hulk because of this success.

Hulk 2 was originally scheduled to be released in 2005. However, delays in pre-production caused problems. James Schamus, the screenwriter had nearly finished the script when he incorporated The Abomination in his story.

Universal was still working on Hulk 2 in 2006 but Marvel Studios and Universal negotiated a revival of the Hulk franchise as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Incredible Hulk.

The 2nd Punisher

The Punisher 2 is at number 3 on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Dolph Lundgren and Thomas Jane played Frank Castle before Jon Bernthal was cast. Jonathan Hensleigh is The Punisher, alongside Thomas Jane as Frank Castle. John Travolta plays the villain.

The Punisher was generally well-received by American critics, although not as well by French ones. This is mainly due to its chilly portrayal of Thomas Jane.

Lionsgate Studios approved the sequel to Punisher 2, despite it only earning $ 54 million (on a budget $ 33 million). Thomas Jane and Jonathan Hensleigh were to reprise their roles. Filming is expected to begin in 2005.

The project never got to see the light of the day despite being in development for more than three years. The script didn’t work. In 2007, the Punisher-War Zone was also launched. The project was therefore cancelled in 2007.

Punisher – War Zone 2

The sequel to Lexi Alexander’s film The Punisher-War Zone could have been made. Ray Stevenson’s version was to have a sequel, despite it being a huge box office failure (only $ 10,000,000 in earnings for a $35 million budget).

Lionsgate was determined to make a sequel despite this. It would be directed by Lexi Alexander. The studio was unable to continue developing its project after the character’s rights to exploitation were sold to Marvel Studios. Instead, Netflix supported The Punisher.

The Punisher – War Zone 2 is at number 4 on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Spider-Man 4

This is without doubt the biggest letdown on the list. After his trilogy with Tobey Magiuire, Sam Raimi is keen to make the fourth Spider-Man movie.

We will never see this well-known feature film. Spider-Man 4 collapsed due to the pressure of fans and Sony expectations. Pre-production was significantly delayed by artistic disputes about the super-villains that would be used in the film.

Sony wanted Jim Carrey as Carnage, Bruce Campbell as Mysterio and John Malkovich as Vulture. But Sam Raimi wanted to concentrate on Morbius and The Lizard (characters that have all appeared onscreen since).

These conflicts forced Sam Raimi to quit the project in 2009. Tobey Maguire followed him.

This story’s most frustrating aspect is Sam Raimi’s intention to continue his Spider-Man saga in Episode 6. But things didn’t go according to plan. Sony chose to reboot the series, which was dubbed The Amazing Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 4 is ranked 5th in the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

X-Men Origins – Magneto

Magneto is at 6th place in the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Gavin Hood’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine was published in 2009. Although the film opened the door to two more Wolverine films in the future, that wasn’t their intention. 20th Century Fox hoped that their first spin-off would create an X-Men Origins shop.

It was intended to tell the origin stories about some of the most famous mutants from the X-Men series. 20th Century Fox produced X-Men Origins Wolverine after the success of X-Men Origins. The film would be followed up by X-Men Origins Tornado.

Sheldon Turner wrote the screenplay, while David S. Goyer directed it.

Fox decided to relaunch the X-Men series after the critically-acclaimed X-Men Origins: Wolverine failed, almost leading to Hugh Jackman being cast as the clawed mutant. X-Men, The Beginning stars men.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is ranked 7th on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Sony Pictures announces The Amazing Spider-Man 3 11 months prior to the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2: A Hero’s Fate.

Sony was forced to stop after Andrew Garfield publicly announced that he would be stepping down from his role as Peter Parker soon after The Amazing Spider-Man: Fate of a Hero was released.

Sony tried to postpone The Amazing Spider-Man 3’s release, but was unsuccessful, in order to renegotiate its contract with Andrew Garfield. Marvel Studios approached Sony to discuss collaborating with them and launching Spider-Man in the MCU as Tom Holland.

The Sinister Six

Sony has decided that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will not be released due to postponement and instead concentrate on The Sinister Six, which is scheduled for release in 2016.

The film was to be a continuation of The Amazing Spider-Man. Hero’s Fate. It would also introduce the legendary villain squad, led by The Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan).

However, the idea was canceled due to a new agreement between Sony Studios and Marvel Studios. The MCU is currently developing a new Sinister Six movie.

The Sinister Six is ranked 8 on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

The Fantastic Four 3

The Fantastic Four 3 is ranked 9th on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Two Tim Story films had been released in 2005 and 2007. In 2007, 20th Century Fox planned to release a third Fantastic 4 film. 20th Century Fox started to doubt the project after receiving mixed reviews for Fantastic 4 & the Silver Surfer.

The second installment grossed over $ 301 millions at the box office, despite having a budget of $ 130million. This is especially impressive considering that the original cast members Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, and Michael Chiklis had all signed a three-film deal with Fox.

The studio decided to focus on the X-Men instead. Chris Evans, who assumed the role of Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011, believed it was a great choice.

The Fantastic Four 2 (Reboot).

20th Century Fox decided to revive Fantastic 4, resulting in the production a new movie. Josh Trank is Chronicle’s director. This reboot is currently considered one of the most disappointing Marvel films.

It received mixed reviews and generated $ 167 million revenue from a budget of $ 120million. Fox has tried for years to make a sequel. It will be released in dark rooms on June 9, 2017.

Pre-production has already started on this sequel. In December 2015, the project was canceled. Marvel Studios has since reclaimed the operational rights to the license and is currently working on a new movie.

The Fantastic Four 2 (Reboot), is ranked number 10 on the list of Cancelled Marvel projects.

The Inhumans

It is the only Marvel Cinematic Universe movie on this list. In fact, there was an original plan to make a feature-length film about this cult before the series The Inhumans was released.

Project Inhumans was originally supposed to be part 3 of Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the leaders chose to concentrate on the Infinity Saga.

Later, Inhumans was considered for inclusion in Phase 4 but was then degraded to a TV show. It was widely criticized. After one season, ABC ended the sitcom.

However, the Inhumans are still part of MCU as they were in Agents of SHIELD series. They are also mentioned occasionally in the MCU.

The Inhumans are ranked 11th on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projets.

Gambit

The Gambit is number 12 on the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.

Gambit was slated for a return in his own movie after being introduced in X-Men Origins : Wolverine. Channing Tatum was to play the iconic mutant and take Taylor Kitsch’s spot in the film.

The feature film went through many changes during pre-production. After several directors tried their hand at the role of director, Gore Verbinski was selected to direct Gambit. Filming began in February 2019. Lea Seydoux, Lizzy Caplan and others were cast.

Gambit’s release was delayed four more times due to delays, problems with the timetable and creative differences. After filming for a month, Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, which was the original producer of Gambit.

This decision was prompted by the inclusion of X-later Men in the MCU. However, it was rescinded by the release X-Men Dark Phoenix and New Mutants after Disney’s acquisition.

Ghost Rider 3

Columbia Pictures had already made plans for Ghost Rider 3 before Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was released.

Nicolas Cage, who has a history of working with women, decided to quit the role due to negative reviews for the second picture. Columbia could not have made it very far because the rights to exploit this character were reverted back to Marvel Studios in 2013. This was one year after Ghost Rider 2 was released.

Despite his appearance in Agents of SHIELD, the character is not currently being considered for the MCU.

Ghost Rider 3 is ranked 13th in the list of Cancelled Marvel Projects.
